Educational Resources

These resources are made available to you to help you find good and safe information.

There are a lot of bad resources out there so do not wast your time or money.

We parishioners have pooled our experience together and put together this list of safe resources. As I do not have time to check all these resources, if you find anything objectionable, please let me know.

  • Roman Catholic Daily Missal, Angelus Press – For use in the 1962 TLM
  • The Saint Andrew Daily Missal, St. Bonaventure Publications – For use in the Pre 1955 TLM. I do not recommend this book.

  • Douay Rheims Bible

I only recommend three bibles.

  • The Latin Clementine Vulgate which is the Bible as established by St. Jerome. It is the only official Catholic bible of the Catholic Church. It is the official Latin text.
  • The Douay Rheims Bible which is the a direct translation from the Latin Clementine Vulgate. It is also the only English translation that has been declared as the Bible by the Church.
  • Ignatius Press version of the RSV. Note that this version and all other English translations of the Bible are translated from several different sources. None or few of which have ever been authenticated as being true manuscripts. Therefore, they can be in serious error or simply just not be accurate according to the true word of God. These bibles also only received imprimaturs and none of which have ever received the declaration of being the authentic word of God like the Douay Rheims.

Sometimes the Douay Rheims version can be a bit difficult to read. For this reason, I also use the Ignatius Press version of the RSV Bible. When something in the DR Bible is difficult, I checked to see how it is stated in the Ignatius Press.

  • Catechism of the Council of Trent – This is heavy reading. Not for the novice.
  • My Catholic Faith
  • Catechism of Pope Pius X
  • Catechism of St. Robert Belermine
  • Baltimore Catechism. There are three or more publishers of this book. The best and most faithful are from Tan Books and XXXXXXX and XXXXXXXX. The St. Joseph edition has been edited and updated and so is suspect.

  • The Catechism Explained, Rev. Francis Spirago, Merdiatrix Press – This is a companion to the Catechism of the Council of Trent. It gives further explanation on the teachings, but is still heavy reading.
  • The Catholic Dictionary by Fr. John Hardon
